June 12, 2011i havent been on in a while, and i hope that you are still here thermo! i am having a dilema here. bout a month ago i went 4wheeling, i dont rally nor am i rough on my vehicle, as i dont want to break it. but last time i went 4x4in i hit the gas tank at some point and put a dent in it approx 1-1/2" deep and its about the width of your fists put together. everytime my truck gets just under 1/4 tank, it has problems starting, no matter the incline. even on a flat surface. that is, until i move the truck and fuel starts sloshing around. but after i fill up tank with gas it is fine.
my plan was to drop the tank and put all new guts in it. and replace the fuel filter. also to pound out that dent. cuz i think that i hit the float or a sensor in there. cuz otherwise my fuel gauge is accurate. and i have had no other reason to question it, even with this. i honestly think that i damaged something. any advice and instruction you can provide me is greatly appreciated.
