May 7, 2011Just got a new F150 XLT with the ecoboost and so far I am impressed. Never really been a fan of the V6 in a full size truck but this one is different (so far) been getting around 22MPG and no shortage of horse power.

May 9, 2011Just saw a show over the weekend called "Test Drive." They showed what Ford did to torture test the engine.
They took one engine and Engine dyno`d the Eco-boost engine for the equivilent of 150,000 miles complete with hot / cold temp cycles. They then put into a truck, took it to Oregon and used it in a logging camp to tow 9000lb logs from where they were cut down to the loader so they could get them to the mill. After that they drove from Oregon to Miami-Homestead Raceway. They put 2 NASCAR Sprint cup cars on a trailer (~11,000lbs) and drove it around the track for 24 hours, only stopping for fuel and tire changes. Then took the truck to Mexico, removed the engine, put it in a Baja 1000 race truck and ran the race. The engine ran the whole time. They then had engine techs tear down the engine for inspection at an auto show right in front of the audience.
Looks like a great engine....
