February 21, 20091998 f-150 4x4 cant get the rotors to come off, front only, I have tried just about everything but cutting them off, Ihave heard of this as a option, anything easy that wont need power tools, thanks
February 21, 2009um don''t you have to take the spindle apart to get the hub/rotor assembly off?
not up on the newer trucks just asking.
February 21, 2009Lounge I believe the 97 up models are different.
heat it and use a BFH. Mapp gas is better. burns hotter than propane.
February 21, 2009Like gearjammer said, a big fuggin hammer. I had this problem on my wifes Expedition. Lots and lots of pounding to get them off.
February 21, 2009well if you aren''t saving the rotors who cares! LOL
I know when I had my 1990 I always wished it had seperate rotors on the front end!
and now that they do they won''t come off. what a pita!
I hope they pop for you.
February 26, 2009I got mine off by using 2 - 4" bolts (with nuts) through both caliper holes. They were off in 3 minutes. I found this trick in one of these websites.
June 26, 2009we had to remove the fronts off an 01 benzomatic and BFH,new rotor
June 26, 2009Soak them in WD40 or another penetrating oil, toss a towel or rag over the rotor, and brat the evr living chit out of it with the biggest mallet or mini-sledge you can find!!
They are just really corroded on there..
June 26, 2009Yep, nothing different then anyone else has said here. Beat the freaking piss outta them. That's what I did, cause I had new rotors going on. An if your putting new rotors on, make sure you use anti-seize on the insides to get them off easier next time.
