December 24, 2008I am getting ready to dump a lot of cash into my 03 F250 for some performace mods, but I dont know what combos would make the most HP. What is the best intake and best programmer for my truck and can anyone tell me what the amps the stock alt makes. Thanks oh and is there any other good mods to do?

December 24, 2008I''''d go with some Patriot heads (ported and polished), JBA long tube headers, ATI Procharger , a true dual exhaust, 42lb injectors and a SCT Livewire tuner. Of course the bottom end will need to be built up but Neal the HP freak is the guy to ask, he hangs out on the 97-03 F150 forums.
I have ported and polished heads, custom K&N intake, cat delete, Edge programmer (EEF 2100) and Gibson dual exhaust. I run pretty good, as well as get 16mpgs. I have a 2wd longbed ext/cab with 4:10 gears. I can run a consistent 7.6 0-60 on 91 octane and around a 90mph 1/4 mile in 15.8 seconds. My fastest 0-60 with 110 octane at Heartland Park Topeka:
Just remeber our trucks are not rockets, I just wanted to keep up with Hemi''s and crappy chevy''s.
December 24, 2008Put a Lightning intake assembly on it!!
December 24, 2008Yeah there is one on ebay right now. Phil, is that the same seller that always has one for sale on there? Is that a 100% complete kit? Mans that is a awesome price, some JBA headers and dual exhaust would make it a screamer for a big truck!
December 24, 2008Yeah, like these guys said, you''re pretty much wasting your time if you don''t supercharge it. A Lightning crate engine, while not the cheapest option, certainly is the easiest.
December 24, 2008Yea I pretty much just want to keep up with some mild moded Hemis and F150s. But where did yall get the Long Tube headers from and what edge programmer did you get because that is what I want but cant find it for my truck??
December 24, 2008There is L super charger kit in the for sale section.
"54,000 miles on the whole kit. The kit comes with intake plenum, 42# injectors, intercooler, intake manifold and wiring harness."
December 24, 2008The edge eef2100 is what I have. It says its for the f150 but will work on the f250 as well. We have the 2 valve 5.4, in 04 they changed to the 3 valve. You will want a pillar mount for the 7.3 if you want a clean install. Google the jba headers, I dont have them, but long tubes are the only way to go.
December 24, 2008F250 is right about the edge. I personally talked with a tech at edge and he said its pretty much the same. it might read some secondary codes differently but it will work. The only think i found odd with mine is that it read my gears as 3.50s not the 3.73s
December 24, 2008haha don''''t waste your time, but if you are gong to go ahead and mod it anyways, do a ati procharger with a sct and put a piece of pipe where the muffler is. headers are sort of a waste of money/time, its ALOT of work and its 1200 bucks for LTs and y pipe when you can get a use ati p-1sc 12lb for 2600
December 25, 2008fordracing, surely you are not agreeing with me on the ATI? *or* the SCT? LOL, man there were some good threads on how worthless/great the 5.4 is. Personally mine has done everything I have asked, but there have been some trucks of another brand that spanked me, usually off the line is where I get it the worst, but around 25mph it catches back up. If you want a fast truck, honestly buy a lightning *or* dodge with a hemi, *or* mode out a 6.0 diesel. The 5.4 is NOT a speed *or* workhorse engine, but it is a good reliable engine, unless you pop a plug, but that is the heads to me, not the engine.
December 25, 2008"5.4l F250 Performance", that is just a funny statement. I''m sorry, but you don''t get a 5.4L in a Super Duty for performance.
My 4x4 CC 6.0L F250 is lifted 6 Inches on 35''s, and weighs about 8600lbs. It will do a 1/4 in at least 14.5 maybe faster. I get 18MPG on the highway, and 13MPG average. I have less than $800 in performance mods. It can also tow 12,500lbs.
How much money does it take to get a 5.4 SD in that performance range, and still last, and be dependable? Just saying for the money you are talking about investing, upgrade to a diesel. If you want a 5.4 to mod, get a 150. It is much lighter.
