April 26, 2008How much money are you wanting to spend and what are you looking to get out of it? I would start with this list and in this order - DIY intake (NAPA 6637), gauges, down pipe, open the exhaust and lose the kitty, 6.0 intercooler, bigger injectors, 6.0 tranny cooler, Sonax (Trimiculator) valve, and a chip from Tony Wildman or Jody Tipton. That should get your 97 down the road PDF!
BTW - Welcome to FTW!
April 26, 2008I have the exhuast and down pipe done and gauges i just got.now the two chips that you said the tony wildman and the jody tipton i've never heard of them. can you give me there website or something so i could find out more about them. thanks for your input
April 26, 2008Jody or Diane can help you out - www.dp-tuner.com Phone (828-221-0076)
Tony - www.totaldieselperformance.com
Couldn't find a direct phone number.
You can't go wrong with either one of these chips. I went with the DP because he has a no start setting to help prevent your truck from being stolen and I didn't have to drill a hole in my dash for the knob/dial.
April 26, 2008How do you feel about the Bully dog 6 postion 4 bank chip?
April 26, 2008Jody and Tony are the only 2 I would trust with my 7.3L tuning... I have been running tunes from Jody for a while now and have been VERY happy... His customer service is amazing too!!!
April 26, 2008Personnaly, I would stay away from the big name brands like BullyDog, Banks, etc. Jody or Tony will take very good care of you.
April 26, 2008ok cool next question. i got the three gauges boost, pryo, and trans temp cuz i have an automatic. how hard is it going to be to hook the trans temp guage. i know where and how to do the other two but not 100% sure how to do the trans temp. just wondering how hard its going to be.
April 26, 2008I know on the Super Dutys, the trans has a port on the driver side that is threaded. Not so sure on the OBS. IIRC the E40OD and 4100R are very similar, so check out the driver side. The gauges are not that hard to install. Follow the destructions that should have come with them and you will be fine.
