March 30, 2008I take it by the "SMILE"(or should I say " eatin grin"),you found a replacement for your old rear end that went POOF!!!
March 30, 2008The suspence is killing me... what are the specs, and whats the plan???
March 30, 2008suweet, but yeah thro some specs or upgrades at us.. once ya figure out what your going to do.
March 30, 2008wait a minute!
there's two axles there!
what did you get a set of one tons for the truck. going to do front and back? disc brakes all the way around?
March 30, 2008From what I can see it looks like a 14 bolt and a D60 front king pin style. Or maybe that rear is a 10.25, hard to tell. I'd be smiling too!!!
March 30, 2008Yup... Two axles!!!! Myron's correct!
I picked up the 80's style kingpin D60 the other day. You guys already knew I bought it. I had it delivered to the border. Here is it loaded on the trailer ready to head back home.
And then I picked up a 14 Bolt FF the next day.
Plans..... Ummmmm..... I think I'm going to leave the D60 in the yard for now. Not really touch it, and hope my D44 holds up throughout the summer with the chrome moly shafts. I think it should last the summer if I change the ujoints once or twice, depending how much wheeling I do.
And, as most of you know, I blew up my 9". So, I'm going to start ordering parts for the 14B asap. Looking at getting some 5.13 gears to match the front and weld up the diff. And then I'm going to do a disk brake swap on it as well. I'll just get a set of 8 lug wheels for the rear, and run the truck like that all summer. I can't afford to build both axles yet because I want a selectable locker in the front.
March 30, 2008Nice Serge!! Looks like some sweet parts!! And the plans sound good too! Can't wait til Mud-Nut's all ready to roll again!! Keep us updated for sure!!
March 31, 2008SKY manufacturing makes a nice looking disc brake converson. I order a few things from them and they even mix matched a few things in there kits for me. Give them a shout. They make all kinds of kool stuff. Pretty sure they have a high steer conversion for your new front diff as well
March 31, 2008Looks like a 1 ton bronco is on its way.
March 31, 2008I know alot of guys on here don't like the 14bolt diff, especially since its a GM axle. But that diff is dang near bullet proof, handles 44s with ease, and parts for it are plentiful and affordable. If I bust my Moser shafts in the rear D60, thats the axle I'll be swapping in as well.
