November 10, 2007Thought I was having starter problems at first but I am still not totally convinced it is the starter. It's a 2001 f150 w/71000 miles manual transmission. For weeks it will start like a new truck and then when I least expect it, when I hold in clutch to start, it does nothing, no sound or anything. I have checked all cable connections and they are tight. It is starting to turn cold here and I don't enjoy push starting in the cold. Could it be in the clutch safety switch or the ingnition tumbler???????????thx BIG TY

November 12, 2007you can check the clutch safety ( which would be my first guess) with a multi meter. pretty much turn the meter to check continuity and put the probes on each prong. depress the switch and the meter should beep. if no beep then bad switch. you may want to test multiple times to see if happens all the time or just sporadically.
