August 31, 2007Well my truck has 103,000 miles on it, so its got quite a bit of life left in it, but I know its limited. In a few years when time and money allow, I would like to either rebuild my 5.4, or possibly a different 5.4 and swap it with the one in my truck. I'm looking to stay N/A and least to start with, but would like to build it to be ready for a supercharger or turbo in the far distant future. I would like to know what any of you guys think I should do? I know that I want to port and polish the heads, bigger injectors, cams, long tube headers, obviously a custom tune. But what about the bottom end? And the ignition and rest of the fuel system? oil system? I have a basic idea of what I want, but I would like to know the specifics so I can start planning and saving. Also, what kind of power numbers do you think I could make on a somewhat modest budget? I know engines and have rebuilt and worked on them before, and I think these modular Fords are really cool and would really like to build one.
