November 8, 2010I did my 1990 f-150 in a weekend starting friday night and having it on the road sunday.
I did a few different tricks to finish the project.
1) I took the mounting bracket that mounts under the dash broad to hold the colunm in palce off and old steering clounm and used it to hold the now shorter colunm in place right above the existing plate. just easier if you have one.
2) I made up a new shifter bracket at the transmission. I had the 300-inline 6 with an automatic. so I didn`t have to weld a piece in to the linkage.
remove your lower shroud before you start lifting the truck body. it will have to be cut some to reinstall it.
parking brake cable mount right at the front driver side body mount will have to be relocated some to give the cable some needed lenght.
and you will need a new lower rad. hose that is about 4" longer for the inline 6 motor.
pull all the hoses that run across the fire wall just below the hood out of thier clips. they will need to move some in the process. once it`s all done you can get them back in the clips.
