February 24, 2009this is the inline 6 cylinder motor?
how about an easy out? turn it in just till it grabs the tube than as you turn it you have to pull up on the easy out at the same time.
February 25, 2009the truck is in the shop and i believe they tried an easy out...their tool vendor is returning today with another possible solution...i will post later when i find out. it''s a v6 and was explained by the shop, that if the remainder of the tube can''t be extracted, the oil pan must be removed to get at the tube. to remove the oil pan the motor must be dropped which is labor intensive and of course costly. thanks for your response, lounge lizard !
March 1, 2009Tell them to punch it into the oil pan and use a flexible magnet to retrieve it threw the drain plug hole. They can also use a snake camera to locate it.
March 2, 2009Use a thread tap that will thread into the broken tube enough that it has
a good bite into the tube. Then just grip the tap with a pair of vise grips and use a small hamner and tap up on the vise grips. I''ve used that
trick a lot.
March 2, 2009the thread tap method worked...all is good..thanks to all for your sugrstions!
October 18, 2010ive got the same problem i took it to a shop and they tryed to get it out but broke a tool of in side the hole would it be safe to drive my truck or would oil spill out i need to know cause i have to drive it 26 miles to my parent shop
October 18, 2010You will definately lose oil unless you can find some way to plug
the hole. How did they manage to break a tool off in the hole?
October 18, 2010they said they used and extractor and broke it some how then they tryed to get me to let them pull the pan off then when i asked how much they told me $1000 in labour
October 18, 2010if ya got time, this is free...
October 19, 2010i was told that my 4.2 v6 engine pan will not clear the oil pickup because the solid front crossmember so you have to lift the engine but guys say to just pull the engine cause it a pain to get the pan back on under the truck
