July 19, 2008I have a 2003 Explorer that is making a humming noise, it sounds like it is coming from the front end. As soon as you start to move at more than 5 mph it starts. It gets worse if you steer to the right and better if you steer to the left, it changes as you accelerate and as you brake. My mechanic says he thinks it is the transfer case, but I am sceptical because of the change as you turn. I have replaced both front hub assemblies, the rotors and brake pads, and the drivers side half shaft. It has good tires on it also. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

July 19, 2008power steering pump.....all the exploders had that problem with noise....nothing you can do to fix it unless you want to buy an aftermarket setup
July 24, 2008Ah, the ole powersteering pump noise. I thought that was gone when they changed models in 01/02. Old mustangs did the same thing.
July 24, 2008I guess I need to change the way I describe the sound it is more of a grinding noise than a humming.
