February 16, 2008I just went for ride in my '92 Bronco to test me exhaust leak fix. I went about 1/4 a mile with no problem. Stopped at a stop sign and laid into it taking off to get some pressure on the manifolds. It had a really long pause when shifting into 2nd and when if finally caught it SLAMMED and then went back to first gear and started shifting up and down erratically. I was on the higway so I couldn't stop and had to drive it back home. It started driving normal again but I'm hearing a whine from the trans. I checked the fluid an its at the right level and still looks good and dosen't smell burnt up. The truck goes fine but I'm still woried about it.
It's always had a long gap between first and second and if I get on it it'll shift pretty hard but never like that.
The reason I'm posting is to see if there is any other reason for it acting up. I know the shifts are controlled electronicaly and it really seems to be a problem like that. It does not slip at all. I don't want to keep driving it and ruin my trans over a simple control module or something but I've got to get to work on monday.
I mainly need to know what parts this could be and where to buy them.
I'd appreciate any help.
