December 28, 2007I have a 2004 F150 with the 5.4 and am having problems with it shaking at pretty much any speed but it does not happen all the time. It has happened throughout the gears and even switching overdrive off. I have taken it to Ford but they can not find anything. Does anyone have any answers? I do have an aftermarket intake and exhaust and thinking about an edge evolution. Let me know if you have any ideas to what it might be.

December 29, 2007Do the vibrations get worse as the motor spins faster? Do the vibrations only occur when the truck is moving down the road? I would take a look at the harmonic balancer on the front of the truck. If that has been damaged, it will be out of balance and can cause the roughness that you are seeing. If it only is rough as the truck is moving, then I would be looking at either your driveshaft or a tranny problems. Could also be an out of balance tire. Do you feel your steering wheel shaking side to side along with the vibration? If the steering wheel wants to shake, then the problem is with either the front tires or the steering.
Let me know and I will help you figure this out.

December 29, 2007Okay, funny I stumbled across this thread. In the last month or so the wifes F150 with the 5.4 is doing what sounds like the same thing. It feels like it just cuts off for a split second. Almost like a kill switch is being hit for a moment. It'll do it in D and O/D. Does it more when it's warm than cold and seems to be more prevalent when accelerating after a slow down, but it'll also do it on straight flat roads with the cruise control on. I'm stumped! Gotta run it by the stealership after the first of the year if it runs that long! Thank God the SD's Powerstroke ain't got that problem.
