September 5, 2006I am having a new motor built for my truck, cause the people in NC fried it, trying to install a supercharger on it. This motor should have some very good horsepower numbers when it is done. I have a 1997 4.6L 4x4 with the 5 speed manual tranny, with a SPEC stage 3 clutch in it. Do you guys think that it will hold up ok with the added power of the new engine? Are there any upgrades that can be done to strengthen this transmission? I don't plan on any drag racing, or dropping the clutch at high rpm's either. How much power will one of these take on the street, or am I getting woried for nothing? THANKS!!!

September 5, 2006I know a few guys over at v6f150 are putting down some big power with their 4.2's (300-400rwhp) and are using the 5 speed. I know they built the tranny a little to hold the extra power and are doing fine. Im not sure exactly what they did to make it hold the extra power, but Im sure you could go over there and ask and they will help. As far as I know, not too many people here have modded their 5 speed equiped trucks...so you probably wont get too much good info.
