December 30, 2005I'm not looking for big boom, just some nice thump. My wife got me a Sony Xplod head unit for Christmas. I know that name isn't the big brand you stereo junkies like, but it's all I need. So, I've got a 10" sub (also Xplod) and a .84 cubic foot sealed downfire box for under my SCab seat. The speaker is 80-330 watts RMS and 1200 watt max. How much amp do I need. The one I'm looking at now is 600 Watts 2 channels max 250 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms. Tell me what I need to know.

January 1, 2006just get a 1 channel amp on the 200-300 watt range and u should be fine
January 1, 2006If you already have that 2 channel then just use that one on one channel and you should be just fine.
January 2, 2006Jay, I went with the Audiobahn 4002T chrome amp. It is a 2 channel, 400 watt amp, but I bridged it to be a one channel and it POUNDS my Kicker Solobaric 10.
January 2, 2006Check what the amp is at 2 ohms. You only want to run about 250 to 300 max continous from your amp or you will kill it. The max the sub will handle is at blurts and not all the time.
Here is a amp from Crutchfield(if you wanna stay sony)
2-channel car amplifier
100 watts RMS x 2
