January 21, 2005I have a 1997 F-150 and I need to replace the front O2 sensor on the passenger side. I tried to do it once and it was not happening. I bought the special socket to replace O2 sensors but where this particular sensor is placed, the socket won't go over the sensor. It sticks up out of the exhaust pipe and almost butts up against the engine block. I can't get a regular 22mm wrench in there either. Anyone have any ideas. I think I could get it by dropping the exhaust but I could not see how to do it without cutting and re doing the welds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get it done by Sunday night I will take it to the dealer to have them do it, and pay out the butt for it as well. I am so frustrated.
I posted this in the F150 general but was hoping to get more exposure by cross posting.
