March 3, 2004Wow, that is waaaay too much for installation. I'm sure you can find a cheaper price or just have a mod party and get it done with some local member. just my .02
March 3, 2004Except for welding the C-notch in, everything else can be done by yourself, or as the person above said, check into joining the Indiana chapter and see about a mod party. I have been to 2 mod parties where a truck was lowered.
Actually lowering with a flip kit is easier than doing hangers, and both I have done were hangers.
BTW a local welder should be able to put the C-notch in for around a hundred bucks or so.
Congress should wear uniforms like NASCAR, then we will know who their corporate sponsors are.
March 4, 2004We, two friends & I, did my DJM 4/6 drop in my garage in about 6 hours with air & hand tools. We used a combination of air and electric reciprocating saws to cut the frame for the notches and sharp drill bits - they are not welded in at all. We removed the bed for easier access to the suspension but another member of FTW did it with the bed on in his driveway.

I have a 98 as well. I did my own drop, the front of it at least. I replaced the upper and lower arms, and the springs for a 4" drop.
As for the rear, it's only a 5" drop. I did the shackles myself, but the hangers gave me a bit of a problem. I ended up having a local shop finish up for me. I don't remember anymore, but $100 rings a bell.
Good luck and post some pics when completed!
March 4, 2004Thanks Guys for the ideas. I was thinking of tackling it myself but the frame notching was the sticking point. I thought of hiring someone because it seemed a pretty big deal on the rear. After getting some crazy prices to install for me I thought i'd just touch base with my fellow FTW members. I'll ask around to see who I can find to cut it for me. I can install the rest myself. I 'll get some pics up before and after once drop is done. Thanks again!!

just measure and put the opposite side c notch against the frame outline and cut not too hard to do.
November 10, 2004I finally found someone to do my truck for $500. I'll be having it done this winter and it will be going into the shop afterward for the painting and body kit install. I'll be putting 2000 front clip with street master airdam, street scene ground effects, kaminari hood, w/ 22" lorenzo rims. 285/35 tires. I'm really excited to finally make some head way on this thing. I'll be posting before and after pictures soon.
