It's really hard to say. A neighbor saw the accident from about eight houses down the block. He doesn't think the car was exceeding the speed limit. The car's driver says he fell asleep and there are no skid marks whatsoever from his car, but both the air bags went off. My street (purely residential) is quite a "raceway," so it isn't out of the question that he was speeding...and I'm a mere 4 houses from the stop sign... If I had to guess, I'd say he fell asleep at the last minute and jammed the accelerator in the process. If you read the story on my webpage, you saw that he pushed the entire rig (Supercrew with 4,500 lb. trailer attached) about 1 1/2 feet. My hubby had the truck checked out yesterday and it's alright, thank God.
The toy hauler is at the repair shop and we haven't received an actual estimate. The insurance companies are hashing it out right now.
The moral of the story is "Call and get insurance BEFORE you drive the trailer home!"
