I believe in freedom. Heck, I fought in the Balkans to bring freedom to Kosovo. I will always favor taking action to end genocide. The problem is, and has been for decades, what do we do after the war is over? I do not think we should be involved in forcing one leader on another nation. How best can we be the gracious winner, or if we play a lesser roll, how do we (or even can we) help the winner be gracious? I honestly don`t know.
I do believe self determination is a God given right for all people. Which is why I am against any form of welfare. That said, sometimes we need to help provide people an opportunity to succeed or fail on their own terms. That does not mean long term investments or making choices for people, but may mean removing someone like Saddam, Milosevic, or Chavez.
I wish I could give you a clear answer here but these are things I have been chewing on for sometime and have yet to fully settle in my heart and mind. There has to be a good middle ground here somewhere.
Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
