August 15, 2011Hey i did the boost fooler deal on my `97 powerstroke and all i did was unplug the MAP sensor and the hose next to it. Im just tryn to see if i can get a little more power out of it without buying a programmer/chip. i know if i do this it wil make the check engine light comeon, but should it make the truck go into limp mode, or make the truck run real rough. when i did it, i was in park just pushing the throttle to see if it would smoke. and it would put out a small amout of smoke, nothing big, but i plugged my OBD snanner in just to see what it said about the check engine light, but while it sat there idling for about a minute or so, the engine just all of a sudden ran outta fuel for about a half second or so but it caught back up and kept running. idk if this was because of the MAP sensor i unplugged, but i plugged it back in and just left it alone for tonite. if yall would mind helpin me out by answering my question: i didnt drive the truck when i had it unplugged but will it put the truck in limp mode going down the road and will it make the engine run like crap?
