January 24, 2010I have an 01 f250 the front axle is grinding from what sounds to be the right front. This mainly happens when i am pulling a loaded car trailer and turning left and accelerate. I replaced the rt friont wheel bearing and it changed nothing. It seems to happen at higher speeds 60mph + it grinds when your going around a left turn, it does not take much turn of the wheel to make the noise i had a few mechanics look at it and no one has any idea i am thinking possible the locking hub. I also have the auto lock hubs i dont know if anything is stuck in the hub or not. PLEASE HELP. thank you

January 25, 2010if you have aftermarket wheels i have had the tie rod rub on the rim other wise wheel bearing would have been my guess.
not a lot to the auto hubs, i would pull it off and spray some wd-40 or equivalent in them to prevent them from locking up. to eliminate the hub as a issue just pull it off. and drive a around the block, and maybe try in and out of 4wd.
