January 6, 2010I have 2000 F150 v6 model. I took off the regular 4 pin pig tail in the back and replaced it with and & pin pig tail. The lights on the truck work fine (ie...brakes, turn signals, back up, etc) but when I connect it to the trailer it does so weird stuff...
Example: I can hook it up to my car trailer using the ford adapter and the amber running lights along the right side with flash when the left signal is on. And when i turn on the headlights neither one of the rear running red lights work. I forgot to test the brake lights...
Before this I had no lights at all working and found that fuse #19 and #20 under the hood was blown. I replaced them and I was hoping all my issues would be resolved but it wasn`t. I tried swapping around the relays and they work in the new location i put them as well. Later on this evening I found that the #20 fuse inside the truck had blown too but I had seen anything change when i replaced that fuse.
Ive test voltage at the fuse box under hood at #19 and #20 with the turn signals on and its not really doing anything. But it does have a good fuse in it now. I tested continuity from the rear pig tail plug to the front plug that goes right under the air filter box and all wires check out to be fine with no issues from there to the back.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram of what all those 12 wires are that the pig tail plugs into and runs to the front under the air box? That way I can test and be 100% sure. Also, where is the input coming from for fuses #19 and #20? Why don`t they have voltage?
