June 1, 2009"Also... if gay couples are so inclined on getting "married" they can do so in a state that allows it I know of people who have done that"
I know some who have as well...problem is, that their state does not recognize it. So while they are married, and to them it is real...it is not legally recognized in any way. So all of the benefits (not just monetary either) sit by the sidelines.
It''s sad that you can live with a person and share your life with them but in the end, if someone is needed to make a call ...say, life support, *or* life saving medical treatment...and they cannot make it themselves, that you as their partner cannot make the decision because you are not ''married'' according to your state.
Just a sad state of affairs when this country values out-of-date tradition over loving relationships and furthering a nation of understanding, acceptance and love.
