November 26, 2008There is a great tuner in Houston, TX. His name is Patrick and the shop is PSI Motorsports!
November 26, 2008And just an idea on how much faster the truck is. I raced a 95 5.0 mustang from a red light and had him 2 truck lengths till 100mph, thats when i backed off.
December 4, 2008Just got my L swap in today, have a few questions about the tune. I have the Edge Evo would that be ok *or* should I look at a SCT tune. Do I have to do a dyno tune AND a flash tune? The guy I talked to at the local motorsports shop said that my engine and tranny would be shot after about 7 months because of the boost pressure, anyone agree?
Just confused about tuning
December 4, 2008The edge will not work. You are going to need a SCT Xcal flash tuner, CUSTOM tuned by a tuner!
I used Sal @ Power Surge Performance, but he is no longer in business. I would contact Rick @ Amazon Tuning Solutions **or** JJ @ Woodbine Motorsports. Both can do great mail order tunes. But a dyno tune is best, depending on were you live they may **or** may not have a good tuner near you. You should really put a factory tech shift plate to help the tranny. I have 38''''s and had the blower on for 20K with ZERO issues and 60K of the total 90K on the truck, its been on 38''''s.
Check out all the Lightning and HD forums to learn ALOT. Thats where i learned all i know!
Hope this helps.
December 5, 2008Yea there are no tuners anywhere near me, the closest ones are in San Antonio, the Dallas area and the Houston area.
Thanks for the links Wayne, I''ll check em out.
December 5, 2008Well if you are near Houston you want to go with Patrick at PSIMotorsports he is a great builder and tuner! Its really worth the drive, i drove almost 700 miles ONE WAY to get tuned!
December 5, 2008can you drive your truck to get the tune, *or* do you have to trailer it to get it there?
will the stock computer run the truck while you go to get the tune done?
