January 10, 2008I bought my dad a metal hose reel from Northern Tool several years ago and it works flawlessly so far. I can't remember the price but it wasn't outragous.
January 16, 2008A friend of mine picked me one up at Harbor Freight about 12 years ago and it still works just like the day I bought it. The other guys in the shop were getting theirs off the Snap-on truck and they were $40 pieces of junk! I love Snap-on, just not their hose reels.
January 16, 2008I got a metal one from northern tool last year. The hose reel itself is fine but the hose that comes on it is already rotting and will need to be replaced soon. I think I only paid about $50 for it.
January 29, 2008I also have one from Northern. 1 year in service so far. I think it was $100 list price, but I got it as a gift. 50' of hose, but mine is also starting to wear on the end, and I think it's leaking too. The reel seems to work fine though...no complaints there.

March 25, 2008I agree - the stuff off of the trucks is over-priced garbage - Mac, Snap-On or whoever
