January 7, 2008i just want to hear from some of the other V10 owners in the colder climates if there truck is like mine and runs pretty cold or if its normal for these engines. my truck never warms up much more then just a hair over the operating temp line. it blows hot air and everything seems to work fine and it warms up nice and fast but the gauge just barely gets over operating temp so i just want to know if its normal or not. thanks for any feedback.

January 11, 2008Mine sets in the middle between the H and C when its winter or summer. Sounds like a thermostat that is on its way of going out. I hace another truck that used to do that and I changed the thermostat and it would set in the middle as well.

The V-10 is a HOT running engine.
Considering it has 10 cylinders, and
the RPM's are the same a alot of V-8's
if not higher.
January 22, 2008thanks guys. i kinda figured the samething and changed it as a precaution and it fixed it. it pretty easy to get at just not fun to do in a unheated garage when it -35 degrees outside with the windshield lol
April 26, 2008mine runs just below operating temp all the time as well.. only time it ever goes up is if im towing
October 21, 2009I run a V-10 in an E-series van, E-350. I have a ScanGuageII and it says mine runs at 198 deg. F unless pulling a hill or it is very warm outside.
Then it will go as high as 203-204 for a few seconds, then slowly return to 197-198. I`m guessing the fan clutch kicks in at 204 and then releases at 198.
