September 26, 2004Porter Cable rocks. We use their stuff exclusively at my shop and I'll never use anything else...
October 1, 2004I have had a Ryobi 14.4 since 1998 and still uses original batteries. I always keep one charged. The flashlight that came with it fell about 6' to the garage floor and doesnt work now even with new bulb. The drill has fallen over 8' to the garage floor and the battery didnt even pop out. I would buy another one when this goes dead, but I would like a drill with the built in levels. Those come in pretty handy.
October 1, 2004If anyone wants, I will make them a great deal on:
1ea 14.4 used Ryobi drill
1ea 14.4 NEW Ryobi drill
2ea 14.4 Ryobi bad batts
2ea 14.4 Ryobi working batts (weak though)
2ea 14.4 Ryobi chargers
1ea 14.4 Ryobi flashlight used
1ea 14.4 Ryobi flashlight NEW
1ea 14.4 Ryobi small hand saw used
1ea Ryobi plastic case for saw/drill/light combo
1ea Ryobi plastic case for drill/light combo
October 2, 2004Wow, look what I found today at Lowes in Covington for $224
BTW-They have 1 left if anyone needs a killer deal on a Makita 18v combo
So 1 more question: Should I only charge up 1 battery and keep the other in storage or use them both?
October 2, 2004another for the Ridgid cordless here.
I have the 14.4 and love the feel of the drill. Rubber around the battery packs, 20 min recharge and comes with the smart charger . I usually take my batteries down til the drill moves no more then recharge the batteries.
I have a craftsman drill pack great drill, 3 Mastercraft drill's 1-7.2volt, 2-9.6volt but the chucks will not hold drill bits tight anymore, a 12 volt eirnhart and a Rigid. The Rigid has all these drills blown away. Great features, well balanced and low torque is wow. the speed is very quick on the drill setting. a very smooth drill that you should check out. I never knew Rigid made cordless drills but now will never buy anything else, period
October 3, 2004My two cents...For the money Craftsman 19.2 will run circles around most drills. I like them so much I have (2).
October 9, 2004Speaking of Drills, I am dumping this:
see for sale section for details...
October 10, 2004Dewalt I use the heck out of my Dewalt 18v cordless drill and radial saw and the charger that came with them has a conditioning button on it. When the battery life starts to shorten, just press that button and the charger automatically discharges the battery and then recharges it back to full power.
