October 13, 2003I had all the stuff out to polish/wax my truck this week so I went ahead and did the underhood as well. I must say I thought it was going to be h3ll to do but the shine came out REALLY easy. It only took about 30 min and looks 30x better.
October 13, 2003You mean the underside of your hood right?....
How did you go about that if so?
I mean reach all the areas under there?
I try to clean under there but about the best I ever do is wipe at the dirt with a rag lightly since it's so hard to position myself to get it realy spotless it's awfuly awkward to me.
October 13, 2003Luckily I'm about 6'2" with lanky arms so it wasn't that bad. I've got mirror under the hood as well so I didn't have to polish underneath them. Cut down some of the time.
October 18, 2003Usually I use a little soft bristle brush to get some of the dirt off and to help it keep cleaner. Then I clean it out with the rag and polish it up a little.
October 18, 2003Long arms here too but one side of my hood as almost no paint on it. Polished it up as best as I could but was a little miffed at that!!! Anyone else have the same problem?
October 18, 2003I did too- some of the spots on the underside weren't quite painted well from the factory. I guess they didn't feel it was necesary since they had the underhood blanket on it. Guess they don't do the job well enough for us perfectionists.
October 18, 2003I think you would probably be right about that!!!!! Looks almost like a nice reason to replace the hood.
October 27, 2003Yup yup, just by looking at pics of your ride, it only makes sense to do a complete job...I bet it looks AWSOME in person...Especially with those mirrors! Very Cool!!
November 25, 2003I'm only 5'8" and with my 16" wheels on my '03 Ranger it's really hard to reach everything! I usually wipe down everything under the hood with a damp rag each week. Also, I go through the local "no touch" car wash once a week to clean the underside of my Ranger.
So far it keeps everything really clean!
